Week 7: Quarantine Chronicles & New Release

Week 7: Quarantine Chronicles & New Release

Well, we're through another week of quarantine.

Thank goodness the weather has warmed up, the sun is bright, and it's starting to stay sunny! It's not exactly staying warm, but it is the sun is out late now. Sunrise is around 5 a.m. and it sets around 10:30 p.m.

Next month (already!) my hometown celebrates the Summer Solstice under the Midnight Sun. It’ll be very different this year…

Week 7:

Thanks to the sun's prompting—along with a little bit of wind—set up our gazebo on the back deck this week, and it's nice to be outside without being blinded by the sun. Since we live in the hills, it's also really nice to zip one side of the gazebo down and avoid the worst of the wind.

I grew up participating in the Midnight Sun Run, a 10K (6.3 mi) run through Fairbanks, Alaska. It begins up at the University and ends at Alaskaland (now Pioneer Park. I refuse to call it that). It's always been held at midnight, kicking off under the midnight sun—literally. And this year, it's going digital. If you're interested in joining virtually from wherever you are, you have to complete the run the weekend of June 19-22.

Writing Update:

This week I wrote 14,762 (so far) on Canens #3 and about 2000 on blogs.

Oh, I've also been revising two chapters of a super-secret co-writing project.

It was a slow week for me...

But I have found a lot of success in using sprints to get focused. Essentially, I use the Pomodoro Technique, and it's been great to focus in the mornings. I get my coffee, get a snack, then sit down, turn on the sprints, and get to work.

Recent:

If you missed it, I've released a new short story in the JL Anthology. Volume IX, Seeds of Lore. Check it out on Amazon. Also, Volume I is currently free on Amazon for the month of May.

Don't lose the chance to get either now!
